Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ordering custom cut glass online — dimensions, glass types, toughening, edge polishing, delivery, and more.
Ordering & Pricing
Browse our glass catalogue on the shop page, select your glass type, enter your exact dimensions in millimetres, choose edge polishing and any extras (holes, cutouts, corner radii), then add to cart and checkout securely. You get instant pricing — no quotes, no waiting, no account required.
All dimensions must be entered in millimetres (mm). 10mm = 1cm, 100mm = 10cm, 1000mm = 1 metre. Our size reference guide on the ordering page shows common conversions. Common mistake: entering centimetres instead of millimetres (e.g. 60 instead of 600).
The price shown in your cart is the final price you pay, including all edge polishing and extras you've selected. The only additional cost is delivery for orders under $500 — orders over $500 include free delivery. There are no hidden fees, no GST surprises (all prices include GST).
Our minimum glass size is 300mm × 300mm (0.09 m²). Orders below this minimum area are charged at the minimum area price. There is no maximum size limit — contact us if you need very large panels and we can confirm feasibility.
Yes — you can add as many different glass pieces to your cart as you need, including different glass types, thicknesses, and sizes. Each item is configured individually. The cart shows a full breakdown of each piece and your combined order total.
Yes — our online glass quote tool gives you an instant live price the moment you enter your dimensions on the order page. No phone calls, no emails, no waiting. Simply select your glass type, enter your size in millimetres, choose any extras (polished edges, holes, corner cutouts), and the price updates in real time. You can then pay securely online in minutes.
Order glass cut to size directly on our website — select your glass type, enter your exact dimensions in mm, and checkout. We cut your glass at our NSW facility and deliver on a dedicated fragile-freight run across Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, and Wollongong. Free delivery on orders over $500. Turnaround is typically 5–7 business days.
Glass Types & Safety
Toughened (tempered) safety glass is required under AS1288 for: shower screens and wet areas, glass within 500mm of a floor, glazed doors and sidelights, kitchen splashbacks near cooktops, pool fencing, and balustrade panels. If you're unsure, your builder, glazier, or building certifier can confirm. When in doubt, toughened is always the safer and more code-compliant choice.
Both are safety glass under AS1288. Toughened glass is 4–5× stronger than standard glass and shatters into small safe pebbles when broken — the opening becomes unprotected. Laminated glass has a PVB interlayer that holds fragments together — it cracks but stays in place. Toughened suits shower screens, splashbacks, balustrades; laminated suits overhead glazing and acoustic applications. See our full guide: Toughened vs Laminated Glass.
Standard clear glass has a slight green tint due to iron content in the raw material. Ultra-clear glass has reduced iron, giving it a pure, neutral appearance with no green cast. It's worth it for splashbacks where you want paint colours to show through accurately, glass table tops where the edge tint would be visible, and premium frameless applications where optical clarity matters. It costs more than standard clear.
No. This is the most important thing to understand about toughened glass. Once it's been through the tempering furnace, it cannot be cut, drilled, notched, or modified. Attempting to do so will cause it to shatter completely. All dimensions, holes, cutouts, and corner radii must be specified and confirmed before we start production.
We stock glass from 4mm to 19mm depending on the glass type. Standard clear float glass is available in 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, and 19mm. Toughened glass is available from 4–12mm in most types. Laminated glass starts at 6.38mm. See the full product listing on the shop page for available options per type.
Cutting, Holes & Edge Polishing
Yes. Select the out-of-square option when ordering. We will contact you after your order to obtain a drawing or template showing the exact shape required. For toughened glass, all shapes must be confirmed before the glass enters the furnace — production does not begin until we've verified your drawing.
Yes. Add holes when ordering — specify the number, diameter, and location (as X/Y coordinates in mm from the bottom-left corner) for each hole. For toughened glass, all holes must be drilled before toughening. For standard (non-toughened) glass, holes can be drilled at any stage. We confirm all hole positions with you before production.
We offer three edge finishes: Flat Polish (smooth, slightly arrised edge — the standard for most applications), Mitre Edge (45-degree chamfer for a sleek modern look), and Bevel Edge (wider decorative chamfer that catches light). You can select a different finish on each of the four sides of your glass. Edges are priced per linear metre based on glass thickness.
Yes — corner radii (rounded corners) are available for most glass types. Options include 2mm, 3–10mm, or larger radii via waterjet or polish. Add corner radii when ordering. This is particularly popular for glass table tops and splashbacks where sharp corners pose a chip or injury risk.
Delivery & Production
We deliver to all of Greater Sydney and the Central Coast. Free delivery is included on orders over $500. See our delivery areas page for full details. For locations beyond the Central Coast — including Newcastle, Wollongong, and regional NSW — email us at sales@onlineglassnsw.com.au for a delivery quote.
Average turnaround from order confirmation to delivery is 5 to 7 working days. Expedited service may be available for urgent orders — email us immediately after placing your order if you have a deadline. Turnaround can be longer for out-of-square pieces that require drawing confirmation.
Please inspect all glass carefully when it is delivered. Any damage or defects must be reported to our delivery team at the time of delivery. As per our terms and conditions, we cannot accept damage claims after the delivery has been accepted and signed off. We take great care with packaging, but glass is a fragile material and in-transit inspection is essential.
Because all glass is custom cut to your specifications and goes into production immediately upon order confirmation, we do not accept cancellations or changes once payment has been processed. Please double-check all dimensions, glass types, and extras before completing your order. See our full terms and conditions.
